The future is here, and we’re living in it. It’s our job to make it the best future it can be. As someone just graduating from college, I feel the weight of the future pretty strongly right now.
At a young age, I apparently wrote that “I will probably not have anything to do with modern technology or the world of today.” This was a bit of a mistake. Just like one of my friends studies a subject he calls “mathology”–the study of the study of mathematics–I do “computerology:” I’m not in hard science or engineering, nor do I have a particularly strong tech background, but I’m a dedicated follower of the culture of technology, and a dedicated analyst of its effects.
My useless party tricks include mixing classic cocktails, improvising hardboiled novels and video game plots based on critical theory, and doing tech support in pidgin Chinese.
